The time I spend with each client is important, and I will generally not pick up my phone if I am with someone.  When you call me, please speak slowly. Please leave your name and phone number, along with other important information. I check and respond to phone messages throughout the day. You are also welcome to communicate with me by email (aseason4change@outlook.com), by voicemail, or by text. Thank for taking the time to look at this information on my website. I hope to hear from you soon.

Types of Counseling that are offered

I offer individual, couples and family counseling. I welcome diversity of all family types. All of my clients are welcome to bring family and/or friends to any of their sessions for education and support.

Brief Short-term Counseling
Over the years there has been a very large movement in the counseling field called Short-term Counseling. Most insurance companies want this type of counseling because it is specific, measurable, and brief in terms of the number of counseling sessions. The primary focus in on one issue at a time that the individual wants to work on. Some examples of short-term therapy might include focusing on employment issues, grief and loss issues, or on depression/anxiety.

Family of Origin Counseling
A Family of Origin counseling is more of a long-term type of counseling that focuses on learning family patterns, identifying roles of individuals within the family, and beliefs that are created as a result of this experience. This type of counseling focuses on identifying family patterns, abuse issues, losses, gender roles, family relationships and other related issues. Many believe that current interpersonal issues or problems with others are often a result of their experience growing up. The focus of this type of counseling is to change old beliefs, values, and behaviors. Many people have found this type of counseling very helpful to understand how they got to where they are now in life.

Individual Trauma/Abuse Counseling
Trauma counseling is specific to individual experiences that cause symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Trauma events manifest in many different ways, including but are not limited to:

  • Childhood Abuse/Neglect

  • Emotional/Psychological/Physical/Sexual Abuse

  • Domestic Violence

  • Witnessing Violence/Participation in Violence/Victim of Violence

  • Incarceration

  • Natural Disasters/Emergency Situations

  • Accidents

  • War

  • Homelessness

  • Death

  • Major Losses

Whatever the form, there are specific tools that I can help you work through this/these experience(s).

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR therapy is a specially designed way of processing trauma experiences that have been recorded in the mind and body. With over 30 years of experience helping people with mental health issues, this is one of the fastest ways to process negative beliefs about your past. Along with hypnotherapy, it's the quickest way to work thru interpersonal issues, and create new beliefs about self!

Neuroscience is now able to prove how the brain intakes information and processes everyday experiences. We once believed that memories were permanent, and now we know that memories (and emotions linked to the memories) can actually be changed on memory nerve endings in the brain. Energy (trauma) that got into the body is also removed. This means that pain recorded in the body is processed out and is no longer felt by the client. Traumatic symptoms can be severely minimized to a much lower level in 2-3 sessions. Ask Dianna for more information about this very interesting way of working with mind/body energy.

Cognitive Behavioral Counseling
This type of counseling is the foundation of all the work that I do with clients, whether it is mental health counseling, addictions counseling, or hypnosis. What you think, creates your beliefs and emotions. By focusing on your thinking patterns, you have the ability to create new brain pathways; creating new beliefs and new emotions. Let me teach you how to take control of your mind.
